A Little Chicken Love
So I'm visiting this very neglected blog. No pincushions to show so here are our pet chickens. Originally belonging to my daughter, we took them on when she moved out as she was going in to an apartment. They are named Honey (the blond), Gretchen (the white) and Henley (the dark brown). Generally at least one of them are laying so we get one egg a day, but they are pets so we don't worry too much about that. They free range our back yard during the day and then put themselves to bed at dusk. Too cute.

Scrappy Pincushion
This is three inches square and made with scraps from this project.
Stuffing pincushions is tricky - I definitely need more practice!

Needle Case
If you need a break from making pincushions, may I suggest you pop over and see Kaaren at The Painted Quilt for a fabulous little needle case. She has generously shared her pattern. And no pictures here - they're on her blog!

Still Here
I really appreciate how you are all here quietly waiting for something to happen. I 'have plans' for some pincushions, but other stuff seems to get in the way. So I'd thought I'd show you a couple of my books that I drool over in odd moments. 'One Day' I will get organised and make one of these:

I just need to pick one, pull the materials together, and go for it. A few of the things that inhibit my hand sewing is lack of good lighting at night, the fact that I need new glasses and sheer exhaustion at the end of the day. I'm working on doing something about all of these things. I've seen so many wonderful, creative pincusions out there in blogland, and I want to create my own...

Christmas in July Swap Received
I received this sweet pincushion from Sarah from Anyone Can Quilt in the Christmas in July Swap which was hosted by Stephanie and Linda. You can't see it in the picture, but it also has a ric-rac loop so I can hang it as an ornament on my Christmas tree!! How cool is that! Thank you so much Sarah!!Friday, July 10, 2009

Blue and gold on Aida cloth
Sunday, March 15, 2009
This little pincushion is my first attempt at English paper piecing. I made it at a retreat a few years ago. Each piece is tacked onto card and then two pieces are whip-stitched together. Evidently your stitches aren't supposed to show, but mine do, a lot. I didn't think I would ever make another but I did. I gave it away in a Secret Santa and I only have a non-digital photo of it. Same thing only softer colours.
This is the other side. I do use this one and now with the passage of time I am open to the idea of making another one... sometime.
