Pincushions Anyone?

I haven't had time to make any pincushions lately - but I did browse around and found this great site with links so you can make one!

Hope your New Year is Bright with Many Blessings for 2010... and lots of time for sewing!

Christmas in July Swap Received

I received this sweet pincushion from Sarah from Anyone Can Quilt in the Christmas in July Swap which was hosted by Stephanie and Linda. You can't see it in the picture, but it also has a ric-rac loop so I can hang it as an ornament on my Christmas tree!! How cool is that! Thank you so much Sarah!!

Scrappy Pincushion

This pincushion is 6 inches square and made from scraps. My daughter requested that I make her one for a lovely couple she did work experience with. Evidently a straight pin is a most useful item in a signwriting business - creates airholes for smoothing....

This elegant pincushion was made by a member
of the WA Embroiderers' Guild.
Blue and gold metallic worked on Aida cloth.
I purchased it.

This little pincushion is my first attempt at English paper piecing. I made it at a retreat a few years ago. Each piece is tacked onto card and then two pieces are whip-stitched together. Evidently your stitches aren't supposed to show, but mine do, a lot. I didn't think I would ever make another but I did. I gave it away in a Secret Santa and I only have a non-digital photo of it. Same thing only softer colours.

This is the other side. I do use this one and now with the passage of time I am open to the idea of making another one... sometime.

Happy Stitching!
